Teresa White BIO:

Growing up, I was immersed in a vibrant world of art. My mother, Pat Beck, was a renowned artist, and our home was an endless canvas bursting with creativity. There wasn’t a single blank wall in sight—each one was adorned with mesmerizing paintings. From an early age, I knew deep in my heart that I was destined to be an artist. Our house was a treasure trove of art supplies and imaginative projects, making art feel as natural to me as breathing.

While my style gravitated towards realism, it always carried a whisper of Impressionism. As a child, drawing was my escape, my passion. I began my artistic journey with watercolors and was thrilled to be selected for the National Watercolor Society’s year-long traveling show. Yet, it was my mother who encouraged me to explore the world of oils, and it was love at first brushstroke. The vibrant, saturated colors I could achieve with oils were beyond anything watercolors could offer.

Over time, my artistic journey evolved as I embraced more Impressionistic elements. I began to experiment with light, color, and texture, seeking to capture not just the visual accuracy but the essence and emotion of my subjects. This evolution allowed me to infuse my work with a sense of movement and atmosphere, creating pieces that resonate deeply with viewers and invite them to experience the world through my eyes. My inspirations include the portrait mastery of John Singer Sargent, the luminous seaside scenes of Joaquin Sorolla, the tender depictions of family life by Mary Cassatt, the vibrant landscapes of Charles Reiffel, the narrative-rich illustrations of N.C. Wyeth, the intricate designs of William Morris, and the sun-drenched impressionism of Guy Rose. Each of these artists has influenced my work, teaching me the power of storytelling, emotion, and color in art.

When I’m in the throes of creation, time becomes irrelevant. It’s like stepping into a different realm where nothing else matters. I feel incredibly blessed to have this burning passion for art, and it continues to enrich my life in ways I could never have imagined.
