Cindy Rogers – Klong
From the moment I could hold a crayon, my soul ignited with an undying love for art. As a third-generation Californian, I was cradled in a rich tapestry of creativity. My late mother, Betty Skinner, was an oil pastel portrait artist whose vibrant work and nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on my heart. My grandmother, a remarkable woman who lived to 102, was a true pioneer—her paintings of California missions and nature, her intricate needlework, and her masterful seamstress skills were a living testament to her boundless creativity.
College was a turning point, where I immersed myself in the world of art history, design, and painting. I spent years working in a large HMO, infusing artistic flair into the Physicians Newsletter and designing dynamic covers for departmental newsletters. Yet, when I retired from healthcare in 2001, a fire was lit within me, propelling me to fully embrace my artistic dreams.
My journey then took me through the exhilarating world of mural painting and into the studio with extraordinary mentors like the late Sabastian Capella, Raye Anne Marks, Carolyn Anderson, Jeff Yeomans, and Marileigh Schulte.
Each day in my studio is a thrilling adventure, sparked by my morning coffee and the electrifying search for that next painting scene that makes my heart pound with excitement. Though I have a deep connection to painting the female figure, my creativity is constantly refreshed by the stunning landscapes of San Diego, from the bustling streets of La Jolla to the tranquil canyons of Torrey Pines Beach.
Attending the 2012 American Artists Weekend with the Masters was a transformative experience. Immersing myself in the brilliance of Jeremy Lipking, Dennis Perrin, Daniel Gerhartz, David Leffel, & Tony Pro, I felt my artistic soul expand and my passion deepen. This journey has been a thrilling, emotional ride, each brushstroke a reflection of the boundless love & exhilaration that art brings to my life.
